Anodea Judith, PhD, is the world's foremost Western authority on the chakra system — the writer and teacher who, more than anyone, translated this ancient map of consciousness into the language of modern psychology. Born Judith Ann Mull in Elyria, Ohio, in 1952, her path wove together an unusual braid of disciplines: a master's in clinical psychology, a doctorate in mind-body health, advanced yoga training, and decades of immersion in mythology, systems theory, somatic therapy, and mystic spirituality. Out of that synthesis came Wheels of Life: A User's Guide to the Chakra System (1987) — a 435-page illustrated manual that became the definitive work on the subject, selling hundreds of thousands of copies across a dozen languages and introducing generations of seekers to the seven energy centres of the body. Her 1996 classic Eastern Body, Western Mind went further still, mapping the chakras onto Western developmental psychology — showing how our childhood wounds, traumas, and triumphs shape each energy centre, and how healing the chakras can heal the whole person. The book became a staple of yoga teacher trainings and therapy trainings alike, cementing her signature contribution: the chakra system not as esoteric decoration, but as a profound framework for the full spectrum of human development, from survival and sexuality to power, love, voice, insight, and spirit. Her later works — including Creating on Purpose, on manifesting through the chakras, and the award-winning animated film The Illuminated Chakras, created with her son — carry the map into practice. Founder and director of Sacred Centers Academy, Judith has taught in person in more than twenty countries while her online courses have reached students in 163, and she serves on the faculty of the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health. Yet her vision has always extended beyond personal healing: books like Waking the Global Heart argue that humanity itself is moving through the chakras — evolving, she hopes, from the era of power toward the age of the heart. Called "a prophet for our time," she continues to write, teach, and speak with a single burning wish: that we wake up in time — each of us, and all of us together.
