Sadhguru — born Jagadish "Jaggi" Vasudev in Mysore, India, in 1957 — is a yogi, mystic, and visionary who has become one of the most influential spiritual voices of our time. His path was anything but conventional: a motorcycle-riding, business-minded young man with a sceptic's temperament, he underwent a spontaneous and life-altering spiritual experience at the age of 25 while sitting on Chamundi Hill. That moment dissolved the boundary between himself and the world around him, and set him on a course to make the inner technologies of yoga accessible to a modern global audience. In 1992 he founded the Isha Foundation, a volunteer-run non-profit based near Coimbatore that now spans hundreds of centres worldwide. At the heart of his work is Inner Engineering — a system blending posture, breath (pranayama), meditation, and self-inquiry — designed to help people take charge of their body, mind, emotions, and energy. Sadhguru frames yoga not as exercise or belief, but as a precise science of inner wellbeing, offering practical tools for anyone seeking clarity, balance, and a deeper experience of life. His teachings are known for their sharp logic, disarming humour, and refusal to trade in dogma. Beyond the individual, Sadhguru has turned his influence toward the planet through large-scale ecological movements like Rally for Rivers, Cauvery Calling, and Save Soil, and was awarded India's Padma Vibhushan in 2017. Whether addressing a first-time meditator, a room of business leaders, or the United Nations, his message stays consistent: that the quality of our lives is determined from the inside out, and that every human being holds the possibility of living joyfully and consciously.
