Seane Corn is an internationally acclaimed vinyasa yoga teacher, author, and activist — a teacher whose raw, emotionally honest style transformed what a yoga class could be, turning movement into what she calls "body prayer." Born in New Jersey, her early life gave no hint of the serene yoga icon she'd become: she grew up wrestling with OCD and dyslexia, and found her way to yoga in late-1980s New York City while working the door at a downtown nightclub. The practice cracked her open. What began as physical exercise became a path of profound emotional healing, guided by teachers including Maty Ezraty and Eddie Modestini, and it set the course for a life spent helping others move what's stuck in the body — grief, trauma, rage — toward release, purpose, and love. Corn rose to become one of the most visible yoga teachers in America, featured on more than forty magazine covers and creating the groundbreaking Yoga of Awakening series with Sounds True. But her deeper signature is the fusion of spiritual practice and social action. In 2005 she was named National Yoga Ambassador for YouthAIDS, and in 2007 she co-founded Off the Mat, Into the World®, an organisation that has trained thousands of yogis to become conscious activists in their communities. Through the Global Seva Challenge she helped raise over $3.5 million for causes from HIV/AIDS awareness to ending human trafficking, earning honours including the Global Green International Environmental Leadership Award and the Smithsonian Institute's Humanitarian Award. Her 2019 book Revolution of the Soul — heart-wrenchingly vulnerable and refreshingly funny — tells the whole story: the nightclub years, the healing, and the hard-won lesson that transformation of the world begins with transformation of the self. Through her online program Align With Source, trauma and mind-body courses, and workshops and trainings around the globe, Seane continues to teach yoga as she has always lived it: as a practice of radical honesty, embodied healing, and love in action. For anyone carrying old pain in their body and longing to turn it into purpose, she is a fierce and compassionate guide.
