Wim Hof is a Dutch extreme athlete and wellness pioneer born on April 20, 1959, in Sittard, Netherlands. Known worldwide as "The Iceman," he first discovered the transformative power of cold water as a young man walking past a frozen canal in Amsterdam — a spontaneous plunge that would change the trajectory of his life forever. After the devastating loss of his wife Marivelle in 1995, Wim turned to cold exposure and breathwork as his path back to health, resilience, and emotional equilibrium. What began as a personal survival tool became a lifelong mission to share these gifts with the world. At the heart of Wim's teaching is the Wim Hof Method — a powerful three-pillar system combining conscious breathwork, cold exposure, and commitment (mindset training). His signature breathing technique, a form of rhythmic hyperventilation followed by breath retention, has been shown in peer-reviewed studies to influence the autonomic nervous system and immune response in ways once thought scientifically impossible. With over 26 world records to his name — including running a half marathon above the Arctic Circle barefoot and climbing Kilimanjaro in shorts — Wim does not just teach these practices; he embodies them as living proof of what the human body and mind are capable of. With more than 24 peer-reviewed scientific studies published in journals including PNAS and Nature, Wim Hof has helped bridge the gap between ancient wisdom and modern science. His workshops, video courses, and global expeditions have reached millions of people across every continent, empowering them to take conscious control of their health, stress levels, energy, and inner peace. He believes that the power to heal and thrive is not superhuman — it is simply human, and available to every one of us.
